Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited

Showcased to the public in Geneva as a design study developed to explore the stylistic potential of the Jeep flagship, the new S Limited model boasts a unique trim that adds to the premium design of Jeep Grand Cherokee distinctive styling cues and Black accents. The result: a Grand Cherokee boasting a new aggressive flair and combining exclusive sporty appeal to the efficiency of the new 3.0-litre V-6 turbo-diesel engine with Multijet II technology, with a plethora of advanced active safety features fitted as standard.

The exterior features a more streamlined appearance thanks to the introduction of new roof molding covers that replace the roof rack. The vehicle's grille surround appears in black gloss and mesh grille texture in platinum chrome. A platinum chrome lower fascia applique´ completes the unique front-end appearance. Black headlamp bezels, black liftgate light-bar and black chrome dual exhaust tips continue the "blacked-out" theme throughout the vehicle's exterior. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited rides on 20-inch tires that surround black-gloss aluminum wheels to enhance the vehicle's aggressive appearance.

The interior of the new S Limited features a leather-wrapped perforated heated steering wheel and ventilated sports-styled Nappa leather and suede seats. Real carbon fiber accents are integrated into the instrument panel and door trim panels. Bright, racing style brake and pedal pads add to the sporty, performance-oriented look inside the cabin.

Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited is powered by the efficient 3.0-litre V-6 turbo-diesel engine with new-generation, 1.800-bar injectors and Multijet II technology developed and patented by Fiat Powertrain. The 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine produces maximum power of 241 hp at 4,000 rpm and torque of 550 Nm at 1,800-2,800 rpm and is paired to the five-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Range Select (ERS). The 3.0-litre CRD powertrain is also offered in a low-output version, with 190 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 440 Nm of torque across 1,600-2,800 rpm.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited is equipped with Quadra-Trac II® 4x4 system with two-speed transfer case and Brake Traction Control System (BTCS) on both the front and rear axle to ensure benchmark off-road capability. Quadra-Trac II's two-speed transfer case uses the inputs coming from a variety of sensors in order to determine tire slip at the earliest possible time and take corrective actions. The system uses Throttle Anticipate to sense quick movement in the throttle from a stop and maximizes traction before slippage occurs. When tire slippage is detected, 100-percent of the available torque is instantly routed to the axle with the most traction. Ultimate on-road and off-road capabilities are accomplished through the assistance of the Quadra-LiftTM air-suspension system with five height settings granting the possibility to change the ride height from 16.5 to 27 cm of ground clearance, the Selec-TerrainTM traction control system with five different terrain settings, the standard Hill Descent Control, for maximum downhill control, and Hill Start Assist, allowing a smooth launch on a grade.

The standard equipment for on-board comfort and infotainment offers the latest technology and aims at transforming every journey in an absolute pleasure. In addition to the advanced UConnect® multimedia infotainment and navigation system with 6.5-inches touchscreen, 30 gigabyte hard disk, USB compatibility, AUX port, DVD video and voice activated Bluethooth UConnect Phone, the new S Limited model offers exclusive Command View®dual-pane panoramic sunroof and a state-of-the-art audio surround-sound system from Harman Kardon®. This 825-watt, 19-speaker, 1 subwoofer premium audio system offers world premier innovation. The system features a 32-volt TPS (Tracking Power Supply) 12-channel amplifier that delivers outstanding acoustics and brings multi-dimensional, quality sound for all passengers.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited features a vast array of advanced safety and security features, that further highlight that technological innovation belongs to the DNA of the Jeep flagship. In addition to the standard safety equipment including Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Electronic Rollover Mitigation (ERM), ABS with off-road calibration, Brake Traction Control System (BTCS) and 7 airbags (front seat, sidebags, side-curtain front and rear, seat-mounted), the new S Limited model offers the following premium safety features: Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-path detection.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Concept

The Jeep® brand has introduced a new, production-intent concept version of its award-winning Grand Cherokee, a unique model with distinctive yet stealthy exterior cues designed to attract new Jeep Grand Cherokee enthusiasts and customers.

Showing the vehicle publicly for the first time at the 2012 Houston Auto Show, Jeep also announced that it has created an online contest for consumers to name the new production-intent Jeep Grand Cherokee concept. The person who chooses the winning name will have an opportunity to win a new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

"Highlighted by a unique platinum-chrome front-end appearance and distinctive black-gloss 20-inch wheels and exterior treatments, our new Jeep Grand Cherokee concept provides a completely new look - one that is edgy and aggressive, and certainly different than any Grand Cherokee on the road today," said Mike Manley, President and CEO - Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. "Jeep enthusiasts have always appreciated limited-edition models and the ability to customize their vehicles. This new Grand Cherokee comes with a unique, 'factory-customized' stealth appearance directly from Jeep, and is certain to attract interest from an array of potential customers.

"We plan to garner feedback from consumers at the Houston Auto Show, and via our online Jeep 'Name My Ride' contest," Manley added. "If the level of excitement is what we anticipate, this new Grand Cherokee will be in Jeep showrooms spring 2012."

In the U.S., Jeep Grand Cherokee sales increased 51 percent in 2011 vs. 2010. In Texas, sales increased 226 percent. The Jeep Grand Cherokee was named "SUV of Texas" the past two years by the Texas Auto Writers Association.

Compass

Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass (MK49) is a compact crossover SUV introduced for the 2007 model year. The Jeep Compass, along with the Patriot both slot below the Jeep Wrangler as Jeep's entry-level sport utility vehicles, and is one of Jeep's first crossover SUVs.

The Compass does not carry the "Trail Rated" badge found on other SUVs in the Jeep family. This indicates that the Compass targets first-time Jeep buyers and those who drive primarily on paved roads. Traditional Jeep vehicles, in contrast, have a reputation for off-road prowess, and some trace their origins to vehicles once used in ground operations by American troops.
